If you live with mild to moderate plaque psoriasis, then you know that even a small patch of psoriasis can have a BIG impact on your quality of life. Red, scaly, dry, cracked skin that may get worse in the winter or under stress, may be just a few of the things you need to manage when you have psoriasis. Many people are embarrassed to talk about the patches you can get in places that people do not see, but cause pain and discomfort and can make everyday tasks difficult to perform.

When you have psoriasis, the life cycle of your skin cells speeds up, leading to a buildup of dead cells on the surface of your skin. The dead cells appear as red patches with silvery scales. Only about 2 to 3 percent of the population develops psoriasis.1 Researchers believe that for someone to develop psoriasis, he or she must have a combination of the genes that cause psoriasis and exposure to certain external factors called “triggers” such as stress, exposure to certain medications, infection or trauma to the skin.1

Psoriasis can put you at risk for other chronic and serious health conditions called co-morbidities”. In addition to depression, those with more severe psoriasis are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease among other serious conditions.

Better treatment options are needed for all people with plaque psoriasis, and you can help advance medical research by participating in research studies for psoriasis.

Take the next step to see if you qualify for local research studies for people with Psoriasis. But don’t delay — space is limited!

* In a research study, the participants may receive investigational study product or may receive an inactive substance, or placebo, depending on the study design. Participants receive study-related care from a doctor/research team for the duration of the study. Reasonable payments will be made for participation and the length of the study may vary.
